'We're going to compete until the end' | Moyes bullish about West Ham's top four hopes

David Moyes struggled to hide his delight with West Ham's 3-2 win over Wolves on Monday evening.

The result was enough to push the Londoners into fourth position.

In an encounter littered with attacking promise, West Ham stormed into a 3-0 lead but were left clinging on as Wolves fought back late on.

Jessie Lingard, Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen put the visitors into a seemingly unassailable position at Molineux.

However, goals either side of half-time from Leander Dendoncker and Fabio Silva saw Wolves come close to earning an unlikely point.

"For a manager it's torture," Moyes told Sky Sports of watching his charges hang on to collect all three points.

"But look, scoring three goals last week, three goals this week, obviously unfortunately conceding one or two as well but it was a really open game, both teams could have scored a few goals."

"I've got to say, some of the speed in our attacking play was fantastic in the opening period."

With eight games left to play, West Ham lead the pack hunting for fourth spot and Champions League football.

Their total of 52 points is one better than Chelsea, with Tottenham and Liverpool two points further back.

"We said before to the players we have to go and we have to go and take it on. Why not?" he said about the prospect of finishing in the top four.

"West Ham are being talked about being fourth, I'm hearing pundits and people in the radio talking about West Ham and I'm thinking: 'You're talking about West Ham here and a chance of being in the Champions League.'

"Nobody would have envisaged that last season, nobody would have mentioned it. There's great credit.

"Can we keep it going? We're going to try and do it, of course we are, all those big teams trying to get to fourth we're going to try and compete with them until the end."
