"Martin O'Neill's reign with Ireland was not good. It just wasn't!"

While Marcelo Bielsa and Spygate was a story to get your teeth into, it was Martin O'Neill that really sparked arguments on Team 33 this week.

The former Ireland manager is now Nottingham Forest boss but his legacy here isn't to everyone's tastes.

Qualifying for Euro 2016 was one thing but a poor 2018 has impacted on his standing.

That got our own Enda Coll exercised on this week's show. He was part of a packed panel alongside myself, Joe Coffey, Derek Ryan, Killian Woods, Cian Roche and Conor Neville.

"It just wasn't"

"Sorry, I can't take any more of this," he began after we'd started discussing O'Neill's status.

"This feels like a bunch of [Man] United fans defending Jose Mourinho. It wasn't just 2018. Fair enough, we got to the Euros [in 2016]. But think about how we got to the Euros. I remember going to the Aviva Stadium and watching Georgia out-play Ireland when Ireland had 11 Premier League players on the pitch.

"Martin O'Neill's reign with Ireland was not a good reign. It just wasn't."

And thus the debate truly began between the lads.

You can listen to the full podcast right here. And you'll find the full timings for talking points there as well. Enda's point on O'Neill begins 48 minutes in.

Also this week, I chatted to Declan Varley who was the man behind the famous Masal Bugduv hoax of 2009. You can watch that chat below. Or you can listen to the podcast.
