Kerry '81: Jack O'Shea's ludicrously relaxed approach to an All-Ireland final

With Dublin gunning for four-in-a-row, Off The Ball caught up with Jack O'Shea and Sean Walsh of the last team to complete the feat - Kerry in 1981.

Jack let us into his secret to success and, in an era where the highest pressures are on sportspeople to produce at the key moments, it may be somewhat surprising.

On the morning of All-Ireland final day, Jack took to 18 holes of pitch and putt, which was "one of my routines in the morning."

"Leading into the game, you need to be as relaxed as you could be.

"I would generally do a bit of work on the Saturday and meet up with the lads on the Saturday night. We would generally go for a meal, a walk and a team meeting down on the beach.

"I'd get up the next morning about 8:30am and play 18 holes of pitch-and-putt, then head off to Croker in the morning with the lads!"

Well, we can only see if Jim Gavin takes a similar approach on Sunday...
