WATCH: John Giles talks Liverpool Achilles heel and Leeds United's wonderful start to 2017-18

In some ways, Liverpool left back Alberto Moreno symbolises the good and bad in the way the club plays now.

Good going forwards, defensively he is unreliable at best and given that he was facing his hometown club Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday night, he was always going to be the centre of attention.

Ultimately, Liverpool's firepower yielded two goals but frailty at the other end also saw them concede twice.

That imbalance has been an issue before and during Jurgen Klopp's time in charge and John Giles does not see anything changing anytime soon as he joined Richie to talk about the week's football.

"This has been going on since he was there and that's where you get the inconsistency because the first half of the game yesterday - I know they lost the goal early on - they played brilliantly," he said.

"Going forward, they're excellent. The three players have got pace and they score goals but there's no team going to attack for 90 minutes."

And for John, defensive deficiencies are the big blind spot in the way Klopp sets up his team and the personnel he picks.

"That's what you can't understand about Klopp. Everybody can talk about Moreno and he's a very, very bad defender. Actually he was bombed out of the team 18 months ago and they bought Robertson and Milner, who I think was their Player of the Year last year playing at left back. He's on the bench, so it's very hard to see inside [Klopp's] head to think 'well Moreno's in the team but these guys are on the bench.'"

Meanwhile, Leeds United, who John represented with distinction during his playing career, winning every available domestic trophy, is delighted with the way the club has started the Championship season with promotion a realistic prospect if they can keep up their current form.
