"We've been let down" - Eoin Hand on FAI

Former Ireland manager Eoin Hand feels Irish football has been "let down" over recent years.

He also believes under the new structure within the FAI, any incoming CEO would be "compromised" as previous incumbent John Delaney would still have a significant role as the newly-created executive vice-president.

Ex-Ireland striker Niall Quinn had earlier ruled himself out of the running for the CEO role. Quinn added that "it reads as a half a CEO role".

Hand, who was an FAI career guidance officer from 1999 until 2012, joined Off The Ball tonight to share his view.

"Strange"

"To have some situation where the past CEO is still there, I find that strange," he said.

"I totally agree with Niall on that one. I do think a new CEO would be surely compromised - everybody's in the same building.

"And I don't see how that could work as successful as it's suggested it could work."

Hand also feels the game has not been run well in this country.

"I have got to say, I feel from what I know, that we have been let down," he said.

Daniel McDonnell of the Irish Independent also discussed the issue on the Newsround:
