When Chris Kamara got on Alex Ferguson's bad side

The Premier League season is almost upon us again and that means we'll be seeing plenty of Chris Kamara again.

The Sky Sports man was in Dublin ahead of Friday night's kick off between Manchester United and Leicester City and popped in to look ahead to the new season.

But he also shared a story from earlier in his broadcasting career when he was covering a game between Liverpool and Manchester United which the former won at the Millennium Stadium during the Gerard Houllier era and in the midst of Alex Ferguson's long reign.

"So I was left [to interview] Sir Alex," he recalled.

"The first thing I said was, 'You've been a long time there [in the dressing room], there's a bit of a stewards' enquiry on the game' and I got his back up straight away.

"He'd been involved in a horse thing with Rock of Gibraltar and all that sort of stuff and there was no implication from my point of view but obviously that's how it happened and he got his back up with me straight away and then the next question didn't go well and he wasn't answering the question."

The next Man United, Ferguson told one of Kammy's Sky colleagues that he'd grant an interview "as long as you don't ask me any stupid questions like Chris Kamara".

Kamara tried to reach out to Fergie through his secretary and the then-Man United manager eventually responded and after their conversation the Scot told him: "I'll give you one more chance".

Sky Sports is the best place to see Premier League action this season with 159 live matches, including Saturday 3pm kick-offs exclusive to Irish viewers.

The first of 31 fixtures kicks off this Friday night.
