Uri Geller offers to help end Mayo's Sam Maguire 'curse'

Mayo's quest to end their Sam Maguire drought has received a boost from an unlikely source.

Illusionist Uri Geller joined Wednesday's #OTBAM to reflect on his role in Gary McAllister's missed penalty against England at Euro '96 and the possibility of teaming up with Eddie Jones as England look to win the Rugby World Cup later this year.

Geller infamously claimed he used the power of his mind to move the ball from the spot as McAllister was about to take a penalty. David Seamen saved his effort and England went on to beat the Scots 2-0 in their group match at Euro '96.

Asked if he could help with Mayo's desire to win their first All-Ireland title since 1951, he told Ger: "Well, first of all, I don't have to but it's better if I meet them all or the coach. So, why don't you tell the coach to come [to Tel Aviva] - there's beautiful weather here. James [Horan], I'm talking to you straight - I'm looking into your eyes now - I'm looking straight into the lens - you've nothing to lose. Just buy a ticket and fly to see me.

"I'll invite you to my home. I'll teach you a few amazing techniques of mind power. You'll show that energy of what I thought you to the players and you're going to start winning - you've nothing to lose. At least you'll enjoy a couple of days in Tel Aviv and I'll take you around," he added.

Mayo claimed the Division 1 National Football League title at the weekend with a 3-11 to 2-10 win over Kerry at Croke Park on Sunday.

They'll be hoping to carry their good form on to this season's Championship. James Horan's side open their Connacht provincial campaign against New York at the beginning of Mayo.
