Not so long ago, former Chelsea manager Gianluca Vialli said David Moyes would already have been sacked three times if he had been managing in Italy.
As it happens, Moyes' tenure at Manchester United came to a halt four games before the end of a torrid campaign punctuated by dismal lows.
Of course, as we all know, poor results were not the only reason for Moyes' departure as United We Stand editor Andy Mitten told Off The Ball tonight.
"From October onward I got continued messages of discontent among players at Carrington," said Mitten, adding that it was "pretty sustained".
"Pretty consistently I was getting a message that several senior players were not happy with David Moyes' style of management. And when I say several, I would say over half of what you would consider to be Manchester United's normal first team."
Mitten believes that the players were "unhappy for a reason" citing the poor results, although he did acknowledge the "big egos" in the dressing room.
In terms of major failings, Mitten was very critical of Moyes' dealings with the media and also explained why the former Everton manager was not very popular with the staff at Manchester United.
He also gave us an insight into the state of mind of a Ryan Giggs who is "delighted" at getting the caretaker role, and how he may perform in his new-found position within the dressing room.
Mitten also explained how Man United will go about finding and attracting a new manager.
He also told us when Moyes' position really started to be placed under a microscope by the club and which members of the club's hierarchy really pulled the plug on the failed project.
Mitten also explained what input Alex Ferguson could have on the search for the new manager after his decision to choose Moyes backfired.
