Tipperary and Kilkenny to meet again in the All-Ireland Hurling final

Tipperary and Kilkenny will meet once again in next month's All-Ireland final.

It is the first meeting of the two sides in the decider since 2016, which the Premier County won by nine points.

Tipperary beat Wexford in a thrilling semi-final in Croke Park earlier, which ended 1-28 to 3-20. The Premier looked dead and buried with 20 minutes to go when Lee Chin found the net for Wexford and they led by five points. However, Liam Sheedy's men fought back and booked their place in the final.

Sheedy won the Liam McCarthy with Tipperary in 2010, ending a drought of nine years. He has now brought the Premier County back to the All-Ireland final in his first year back in charge.

Kilkenny booked their place in the decider last night following a one-point win over reigning champions Limerick in Croke Park. Brian Cody has now led the Cats to 16 All-Ireland Finals during his time as manager.

Speaking after the game, Cody said, "we haven't been there for a few years perhaps but the team has shown terrific character and honesty and genuineness in spirit and obviously skill as well to get here."

The All-Ireland Hurling final takes place in Croke Park on August 18th.
