Speculation Troy Parrott to be in Spurs' Champions League squad tonight

Troy Parrott may be in line to be included in the Tottenham Hotspur squad for their Champions League clash against Red Star Belgrade.

The 17-year-old Dubliner has been left out of Spurs under-19's squad for the Youth League game against the same opposition this evening. Last month, he scored four goals in the return fixture against Red Star Belgrade in a 9-2 drubbing of the Serbian outfit.

He could be included in the matchday squad for Mauricio Pochettino's senior team tonight after the teenager made his first-team debut for Tottenham Hotspur in their pre-season victory over Juventus in July, before making his first competitive start against Colchester United in the EFL Cup in September.

He will be joining up with the Republic of Ireland Senior squad for the games against New Zealand and the crucial Euro 2020 qualifier against Denmark at the Aviva Stadium. Three points against the Danes will secure the Boys in Green's place at Euro 2020.

"His first two internationals, he scored at under-21 level three goals, helped us to get six-points against Armenia and Sweden," said Stephen Kenny today about the Dubliner getting the call-up to Mick McCarthy's senior team.

"He played against Italy of course, unfortunately, he was sent off in the game. We were delighted to have him for the period we had him. While we want to progress and try and qualify at under-21 level it is ultimately about progressing and becoming senior internationals. I'm delighted he's been called up."
