“Straightforward” 2-0 win for Liverpool | Prediction for Champions League Final

Gareth Roberts, of The Anfield Wrap, was on OTB AM on Thursday discussing Liverpool’s chances against Spurs.

The Liverpool fan has been convincing himself that his side can make a fast start and defeat their opposition in a straightforward manner.

“What I’ve been talking myself into is Liverpool making a fast start, they’ve done that a lot.”

“I think they’ll be in the right place… to play the right football, similar to what they did against Barcelona. Only this time with the full confidence of players as well.”

While Roberts believes that the final should be straightforward, his history of watching Liverpool finals has led him to believe otherwise.

“It might be a little bit straightforward for one. Liverpool ordinarily don’t do things straightforward in finals. It certainly feels that way as a fan, going for a long, long time. So, it would be nice to do something straightforward.”

He then gave his prediction of the score but also realised it could end up with a mad scoreline either.

“I’m going to say 2-0 for Liverpool. I’d love it to be straightforward and enjoy the match for once but I’m sure it’ll be mad and it will be about 6-5 or something.”

Roberts also compared the situation to last year's final. He feels like the build-up has been different as favourites this year

“I think last time it felt like it was a bit of a rollercoaster ride. It was an emotional thing.”

“We were obviously playing Real Madrid and they were the experienced side. I think it’s different this time in that, we really feel in Liverpool that we can win this, that we’re the favourites and rightly so.”

Roberts ultimately summed up how it all felt by saying it was like their destiny.

“It feels a little bit like destiny.”
