Will Gary Neville's Valencia tenure end in a whimper?

Gary Neville's tenure at Valencia can be titled as a disappointment.

The England coach took charge of the La Liga side in December last year. He looks set to leave at the end of the season as the team continue to be dragged into a relegation battle.

Valencia currently lie in 14th place in the Spanish top tier. They lie six points above safety after losing their last three league games. Neville has helped the side to three league wins out of 16 since joining the club.

Ben Lyttleton spoke to Off the Ball on Tuesday night about Neville's time in Spain and he thinks the former Manchester United defender may leave on bad terms if results don't improve.

The fans have turned against Neville according to Lyttleton after the weekend loss to Celta Vigo. "It's a really difficult situation. He came into a club that was a total mess and he hasn't been able to turn it around. It's been nothing short of a disaster."

Neville still has the backing of the dressing room, Lyttleton revealed which may be the reason he is still in charge. "The players dont dislike him and they see there's something in him but it's not just getting through. They like him as a coach and as a person, but I think communication is the big problem."

Valencia's next game after the international break is against Las Palmas on April 3rd. A loss in Gran Canaria could spell trouble for Neville's reign in Spain.
