The Ireland captain and manager both named him as their first choice for this year's Ballon D'Or, which the Real Madrid attacker eventually won tonight.
O'Neill went for Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Diego Costa - in that order - with Keane picking Messi and Gareth Bale as his second and third choices respectively.
Elsewhere, England manager Roy Hodgson chose Argentina and Barcelona's Javier Mascherano as his pick for the world's best player in 2014, while Wayne Rooney chose his former Manchester United team-mate Ronaldo.
