What went wrong for Roddy Collins at Derry City?

Listen to the full interview via the podcast

The big news from the SSE Airtricity League involved our regular pundit Roddy Collins.

The Dubliner departed the role of Derry City manager after a disappointing spell at the Ulster club.

His short time in charge yielded two wins in 12 games.

Tonight, Dan McDonnell and Stuart Byrne joined us for the League of Ireland slot and Dan felt issues were mounting up.

"From the outside, you just got a real sense that there just seemed to be a lot going on in terms of going to a place that can be difficult to get settled sometimes. We've seen Pat Fenlon in the past and other successful managers who didn't last [there] for whatever reason and it did seem that Roddy never really got his feet under the table there, never really bought himself any time," said Dan, who felt that there was an inevitability about Roddy's departure.

Stuey believes momentum may have adversely affected the side, citing the opening match of the season against Shamrock Rovers as a key moment. The Candystripes were leading 1 - 0 but were sucker-punched by a late goal to snatch a draw from the jaws of victory.
