To say that Johan Cruyff is the most influential footballing figure of the last 50 years would not be an exaggeration.
When you look at the elite football we have been watching over the years, the 68-year-old who sadly passed away today was a crucial part of the evolutionary chain which starts off with Dutch Total Football of the late 1960s all the way to the concepts which have driven Barcelona, Spain and Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich to success. Many more have been influenced by the type of game Cruyff exalted.
As a player, coach and thinker on the game, we've witnessed the workings of his mind through the football teams he was a part of or influenced.
But viewers on Dutch TV got a glimpse into the way he thought about the game in 2004 as he explained the spacial potential of formations.
