WATCH: "They're worse now" - Brian Kerr on Tottenham's plight

Brian Kerr believes that confusion over Tottenham's best eleven has partially led to their current situation, after their 1-0 home loss to RB Leipzig tonight.

Kerr was speaking on Virgin Media Sport after Spurs surrendered home advantage to the German high-flyers, and believes that Tottenham are in a worse position than under Mauricio Pochettino.

"I think the team they have now is a long way from the team that qualified for the Champions League final last year," said Kerr.

"Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen were one of the best centre-back pairings in the league, the season before last.

"Last season they were good, they often played with Davinson Sanchez in a three, but now they have made a lot of changes. Vertonghen's form has gone completely."

In terms of the upheaval at Spurs, one position, in particular, is indicative of the muddled thinking in the current Tottenham setup.

"They have used, I reckon, seven different players at left-back in recent weeks. Sessegnon has played there, Rose has played there and since gone on, Tanganga has played there, Vertonghen has played there.

"So many players have played there and not been very good.

"They lost twenty games last season - there was always an element of them buckling under the pressure last year.

"I agree that they got lucky, but they are worse now."
