Joe Allen and Simon Mignolet were the heroes for Liverpool last night as Jurgen Klopp's side defeated Stoke City in a penalty shoot-out to reach the League Cup final.
Stoke won the second leg 1-0 as the game finished 1-1 on aggregate. Marko Arnautovic scored the game's only goal as he shot past Mignolet on the stroke of half-time.
Ten of the first 12 penalties were scored as both sides missed their second penalties. Peter Crouch and Emre Can both missed as the teams finished 4-4 after five penalties each. Irish internationals Jon Walters and Glenn Whelan were both successful for Stoke.
As the game went to sudden death, both Marco van Ginkel and Lucas Leiva scored for their sides before Stoke's Marc Muniesa had his penalty saved by Mignolet. The Welsh international Allen stepped up to score the winner and send Liverpool to their first League Cup semi-final since 2012.
