Geoff Hurst's joked that he is disappointed the debate over the decisive third goal in England's 1966 World Cup final win is now well and truly at an end.

Using the latest technology, Sky Sports has managed to prove it was the correct decision to award his second goal in the 4-2 victory over West Germany.

They used data from statistic providers Opta, an iPad touchscreen and EA Sports virtual reality technology - and studio analysis from Jamie Carragher.

For his part, that final's hat-trick hero Hurst says he gets asked about it all the time.

"I've enjoyed the controversy of talking about it for the last 50 years. It's probably one of the most talked about goals in football history. There have been a lot of views over the last 50 years. Scientists have looked at it. Some have said 'yes', some have said 'no'. All I said to that was 'who cares'. The linesman gave it," he said.
