On Thursday afternoon, an exhibition match in Iran saw some legends of Spanish football taking to the pitch once again.
While the tempo wasn't the highest and there wasn't exactly a lot of geggenpressing going on from either side, there was still a display of classy football form a number of players who have shown their quality throughout the years on the biggest stage.
The La Liga legends were able to boast such names as Fernando Morientes, Luis Garcia, Eric Abidal, Gaizka Mendieta and Marcos Senna, as they took on a selection of All Star players from Iran in the Azadi Stadium.

Claude Makelele, without doubt the absolute pinnacle of the midfield metronome in his day, was also involved, and looked to still be in very good shape. It's not beyond the realm of possibility that he could do a job for a team on an emergency loan basis at some stage this season. He's still got it, as they say.
Morientes also showed a touch of class as he fired the Spanish side's second goal in, while Luque showed the goal-scoring eye that served him so well during his playing career to finish off a lovely chance off a through pass.
