Mats Hummels found himself on the receiving end of Borussia Dortmund fans' anger today at the Westfalenstadion as he was whistled at during their 5-1 win over Wolfsburg.
News broke during the week that Hummels had handed in a transfer request with his destination of choice being Bayern Munich.
Dortmund have been locked in a long-standing battle with Bayern Munich for supremacy in German football with the Bavarian outfit boasting control for the last number of years under Pep Guardiola. Dortmund fans still hold resentment over Bayern's signing of Mario Gotze in 2013 and Robert Lewandowski the same year and are not impressed with Hummels' latest request.
Hummels was a youth player at Bayern and played once for the senior side before being loaned to Dortmund and making the loan deal permanent a year later. The 27-year-old has played over 200 times for his current side but with today's display of indignation from the fans, his time is surely up at in Dortmund.
This comes on the back of news on Saturday that Hummels has rejected notions that he offered himself to any club.
