Eleven years ago this weekend, Manchester United kicked off their FA Cup campaign with what appeared to be a facile third round tie against non-league opposition.
That then-Conference side was Exeter City, who play Liverpool tonight at the same stage with former Ireland striker Clinton Morrison in their ranks.
The club were in a delicate situation financially as they arrived at Old Trafford to face a United squad which featured the likes of a young Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo and stalwarts like Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes.
Only two of those players were in the matchday squad however, with Ronaldo and Scholes sitting on the bench, leaving forgotten names like Eric Djemba Djemba, Jonathan Spector and David Bellion to start a game that would finish 0-0:
Exeter earned over half a million from their share of gate receipts and the TV revenue from the replay at home got them out of a financial black hole.
Eleven years on as they face Liverpool they can also boast of being a football league club having been promoted from the Conference in 2008.
And judging from Clinton Morrison's confidence on Off The Ball last night, he and his team-mates will fancy themselves against an injury-ravaged Reds tonight:
