'They should be beating Wolves' | Stephen Kelly on Manchester United's ambition

It is no secret that Wolves were Manchester United's bogey team last season after failing to win against Nuno Espírito Santo's side on three separate occasions.

Speaking on Monday's OTB AM, Stephen Kelly thinks they should not be happy with a draw on Monday Night Football.

"Based on last season they'd take a draw and based on how they have done against Wolves in the past, they would probably take it.

"If you're Manchester United though and you're Solskjaer and you're looking for your team to be in the top four and to make some serious steps.

"I know Wolves are a very good side, but they still got to be thinking that we got to go to Molineux and win," he said.

Kelly feels their ambition should be greater and he thinks they can perform at a high level when things are clicking.

High level

"Manchester United as a club and as a team should be looking to progress and be better than what they were the last few seasons. They got to be thinking we can get three points here.

"They're going to be thinking we can win this game because realistically they have the players that can cause Wolves problems.

"They have the players that can score goals for them, dictate a game and they could run over the top of them if they perform at a high enough level," the former Ireland international said.

Even though he said last week's 4-0 victory over Chelsea wasn't reflective of the game, Kelly said it was similar to how Manchester United used to play.

"Last week, Chelsea were unlucky at the start of the game and then Manchester United were just extremely clinical.

"It's kind of what Manchester United would have been like in the past, they didn't always used to dominate every game they just finished teams off.

"If Man United can be like that through the course of the season, creating chances and scoring goals they should be beating Wolves," he stated.
