Sunderland have moved out of the relegation zone with a 4-0 win over Cardiff City at the Stadium of Light.
10 man Cardiff were swept away in the relegation six pointer as Conor Wickham led the latest chapter in what is becoming a story of unlikely escape for the Black Cats.
Wickham hit the back of the net twice, making it five goals in the last three games.
Fabio Borini scored from the spot following a foul by Cardiff’s Juan Cala on Conor Wickham in the box. Replays showed the foul may have been outside the area but Cala saw red for the foul.
Emanuele Giaccherini scored the other goal for Gus Poyet’s men as they lift themselves to 17th in the table with just three games to go.
