"It is a struggle" | Keith Andrews believes Tottenham are in danger

Tottenham Hotspur are going through a "struggle" at the moment, according to Keith Andrews.

Ahead of their first-leg Champions League tie against RB Leipzig, Andrews spoke about Spurs' situation to Off The Ball's Virgin Media Sport roadshow.

It was a conversation about the form of Dele Alli that raised questions about the trajectory of Spurs under Jose Mourinho thus far.

"[Dele Alli] typifies Spurs at the moment, let's be honest," said Andrews.

"Over the last eighteen months to two years, the stadium situation, the lack of signings over that period, the managerial change - it has been a struggle.

"If they get top four this year and progress a little bit further in the Champions League, it will have been a very good season."

Tottenham travails

After the departure of Mauricio Pochettino amid concerns that Daniel Levy did not fund the team correctly, the situation at Tottenham is precarious.

In order to get them back to challenging at the top of the game, Andrews believes that money needs to be invested - but is not sure whether it will be forthcoming.

"Mourinho has to put his stamp on that team - if he is allowed to do that financially, I'm not so sure.

"It is a struggle. They are not great to watch as they are grinding out results that they don't deserve.

"Aston Villa should have been out of sight [on Sunday]. Then they messed up.

"That is not a Mourinho team. It doesn't look like a Mourinho team with Lo Celso and Winks playing in midfield.

"Eric Dier looks like he is sulking; he can't get around the pitch and probably never could. It is a struggle all round.

"I just think that he is just trying to get results, and it is a tricky one."
