"Stop moaning about it" - Stuart Byrne reacts to Kenny Shiels remarks about drawing Dundalk

"They’re crying about having to go to Amsterdam but I’m sure my players would prefer to get on a plane for a one and half hour flight than take a six hour bus journey for the second time in a week."

That was an excerpt of Derry City manager Kenny Shiels talking to BBC Radio Foyle about drawing Europa League-bound Dundalk (the leaders play AZ Alkmaar away in the Netherlands this Thursday) in the FAI Cup semi-finals and the perceived disadvantage for his own side.

Shiels also said that, "We’ve played four more games in the league - well, that’s down to three now - and had a run in the League Cup, which [Dundalk] didn’t have."

On tonight's Off The Ball, ex-Shelbourne midfielder Stuart Byrne had his say about those comments.

"I mean, what's their problem? The travelling thing does my head in. Absolutely does my head in. Go and join the Irish League. Stop moaning about it. Get on with it," he said.

"It's nothing but a pure negative or it's an excuse. He talked there about wanting to build the club up. If you want to build the club up, stop griping and starting trying to win things."
