Longford then managed to hold out with 10 men for the final 11 minutes, as Kevin O'Connor was given his marching orders.
Elsewhere, Sligo Rovers were caught late on as they drew with Finn Harps at the Showgrounds.
Chris Lyons gave the Bit O'Red the advantage early in the first half but they couldn't hold out, as Damien McNulty equalised late on.
The game finished slightly ahead of schedule as the lights went out in the stadium in the 87th minute, but the result will stand.
