Sheffield United managed to salvage a 3-3 draw with Manchester United after a stoppage-time equaliser from Oli McBurnie during a topsy-turvy match at Bramall Lane.
In what was some of the more insane matches of the Premier League season, Manchester United had emerged after half-time as a re-energised and re-focused side.
The first half was all Sheffield United, as the Blades took control through deft technique and overlapping runs against a beleaguered-looking and pedestrian Manchester United.
David De Gea was called on early to make two consecutive brilliant saves, the latter from a close-range header from the Republic of Ireland's David McGoldrick.
Phil Jones was reinstated to the Manchester United line-up alongside Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof. If there was any lingering concerns about Jones, then they only took nineteen minutes to be realised.
Jones was muscled off the ball by Lys Mousset, with the Frenchman crossing for John Fleck to finish from close range, fully in keeping with the run of play.
Manchester United resurgence
This seemed to spark Manchester United into life, with Brandon Williams rifling into the bottom corner from a high, looping header that lander on his right. This was Williams' first senior goal for United.
Williams should be credited for showing United the way to play, as he has been inserting a joie de vivre into the Manchester United lineup since his choice ahead of Ashley Young.
Inspire it did. Mason Greenwood is another that has brought a spark to Manchester United, and he finished coolly from close range after Marcus Rashford's good work down the right.
Rashford sent the United fans into raptures, as Daniel James cut back for him to sweep home with his left foot.
Raptures only last so long, as United appeared to retreat into defensive mode, taking off Anthony Martial for Axel Tuanzebe. They looked harem scarem as the Blades attacked on the break.
McBurnie's equaliser came as the Manchester United defence had several chances to clear.
Blades' fans had a couple of frustrating minutes, as VAR looked at the potential handball - it was adjudged to have not infringed and Bramall Lane erupted.
A draw was fair, but Sheffield United will wonder how they lost control of a match that looked set to pile pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
