Roy Keane likes what he sees in Manchester United's midfielder Scott McTominay, after United demolished cross-Pennine rivals Leeds United 6-2 at Old Trafford.
Gary Neville likened the Scot to a hybrid of Keane and Paul Scholes and while Keane was quick to temper that comparison, he feels that McTominay is developing well.
Scott McTominay
“He’s 24, he’s maturing, he’s a good shape, he’s played a lot of games at the top level. He’s played in one or two different roles for the national team," he told Sky Sports.
"I even like his haircut, I think his haircut looks sharp. He needs to be thinking, can I pass to a forward more.
"We see a lot of teams who think about possession and tippy-tappy football, but for a midfielder, if there is space is in front of you, just run.
"It was the perfect game for him. He kept it simple and the kid’s maturing really well.
"He’ll need to improve more on his stats and goals, but his role in the team has generally been to protect a back four that is dodgy."

🗣️ "Liverpool are the strongest but Man Utd can be best of the rest..."

United's win leaves them third in the Premier League, with a game in hand over Leicester City and Liverpool ahead of them.
Keane believes that a topsy-turvy season could have the Reds there or thereabouts at the end of the season.
"It has been a nice few days for United - they had to beat Sheffield [United] and Leeds to just put another marker down.
"I still think that Liverpool are the strongest, but I do think that United could be the best of the rest."
