Arsenal have laid down a marker with an outstanding 3-0 home win over Chelsea at the Emirates.
The Blues have tended to have the better of the head-to-heads between the London sides in recent seasons but with Antonio Conte's side lacking any threat up front and shaky at the back, Arsene Wenger watched his side dismantle their opponents at the Emirates.
Arsenal took the lead on 11 minutes when Alexis Sanchez capitalised on uncertain defending from Gary Cahill before racing clean through and finishing with aplomb.
Three minutes later and the Gunners had doubled that lead as Alex Iwobi found Hector Bellerin racing down the right flank and the full-back squared it for Theo Walcott to make it 2-0.
Arsenal continued to threaten on the break but it wasn't until five minutes to half-time when they made it 3-0 as Sanchez and Mesut Ozil combined.
Ozil started the move and fed Sanchez who then returned the favour with a lofted cross to the German who had headed to the far post.
Ozil took the cross with a first time volley which was scuffed but looped over Thibuat Courtois and in off the post.
Chelsea were frustrated in their attempts to get back into the game and it wasn't until the final 10 minutes that they even forced a save from Petr Cech when substitute Michy Batshuayi had an attempt on goal.
The result lifts Arsenal up to third above Liverpool on goal difference and five points behind leaders Manchester City, while Chelsea are eighth.
