It was a day of mixed emotions at the top and bottom of the Premier League as Leicester City remain top while Aston Villa's Premier League farewell tour entered Swansea for the day.
Arsenal recorded an impressive win at Goodison Park to keep their slim title hopes alive and Cesc Fabregas saved Chelsea's blushes twice against West Ham at Stamford Bridge.
Leicester City continue to pass each test
On March 19th last year, Leicester were seven points away from safety, languishing at the foot of the Premier League table. One year later, The Foxes lie eight points clear at the top of the table.
As each game passes, Leicester cannot stop confounding the critics. A trip to Selhurst Park was seen as a potential banana-skin despite Crystal Palace failing to win in the Premier League this year. Even their manager, Alan Pardew seems to be struggling with the pressure.
A goal from Riyad Mahrez in the first half gave Claudio Ranieri's side the win. They will now hope that Bournemouth do them a favour on Sunday and take some points off Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
Aston Villa look like a broken team
Aston Villa's Premier League Farewell Tour still has a few dates to play, but opponents shouldn't be wary. Villa are a broken team.
Remi Garde's side suffered yet another loss on Saturday evening, losing 1-0 to Swansea in the Liberty Stadium. They now are 12 points from safety after Norwich's win away to West Brom.
Villa have seven games left in the Premier League. The club are in such a state that if may be their final seven games in the league for a while.
Arsenal keep their slim title hopes alive
Arsene Wenger's side went into the early game without a Premier League win in three. Anything other than three points against Everton and the slim title hopes would evaporate on Merseyside.
First half goals from Danny Welbeck and Alex Iwobi gave Arsenal a cushion at the break. The game was all but won at half-time but the team suffered a nervy final 20 minutes as an injured David Ospina stayed on the field.
Arsenal are now 11 points behind Leicester with a game in hand. They will still feel the Premier League trophy could be bound for the Emirates Stadium.
