Saido Berahino will reportedly get his move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer with West Bromwich Albion having agreed in principle to a deal for the English striker.
The future of the 22-year old that had turned into a saga covering the last two transfer windows, including tweets from the player assuring he would never play for the club again, a hand-written transfer request that was subsequently rejected and plenty of speculation.
Berahino has started all three of West Brom's recent games with the club going unbeaten in all three. He had spent a considerable amount of time on the bench in the earlier parts of the season but tensions have cooled between the chairman and the young attacker.
Berahino's contract expires in 2017 and the club appear ready to cash in on his services for fear of losing him for nothing when his contract runs out. There has been a considerable effort made by both sides to cool the tensions and repair the bridges that had been burned last summer.
In an official interview with the club, Berahino said, “I get on really well with the chairman, so there is no problem there, I have always got on with the chairman.
“My tweet was something that I look back on and I really regret. I should never have said that. I am human. We all makes mistakes and I hold my hand up and say it was a mistake from me. I just apologise to all the fans out there that have always supported me and the club that has always believed in me.”
