Roy Keane to Celtic? One journalist reckons that story could grow legs

Roy Keane's name has been bandied about as a potential successor for outgoing Celtic manager Ronny Deila.

The Ireland assistant has played down that speculation today but The Scottish Sun's chief football writer Robert Grieve, who joined us to talk about what the future holds for the Glasgow club, thinks there could be some developments in that regard after Euro 2016.

"If you were asking me personally who I think will be the next Celtic manager - and this is not through any real solid information - I think Roy Keane would tick a lot of boxes and I think he would have to be considered the No 1 candidate," Grieve told Off The Ball tonight.

"I think the next Celtic manager will be an appointment made by Dermot Desmond and that suggests to me that it will be someone he knows and trusts. And I could be wrong. I say this with no solid information but it just strikes me that Roy Keane could be someone who returns back to the radar. The European Championships are on his immediate horizon right now with Ireland but I looked at the diary a day or two ago and I think unless, Republic of Ireland get through into the knockout stages, he could be back home a day or two before Celtic could be returning for pre-season."
