Everton manager Ronald Koeman says James McCarthy and Darron Gibson will be fit in two to three weeks.
Following groin injuries, the Irish midfield duo are major doubts for Ireland's 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Moldova respectively on October 6th and 9th respectively.
With a two to three week timescale according to their club manager Koeman, the duo are touch-and-go at best to be fit in time for Martin O'Neill to include him in his plans.
The Ireland manager names his squad on Friday, September 23rd.
"McCarthy was doing runs already outside and Gibson will do runs I think in one week. Both players are not long-term injuries. Normally, they will be fit in 2-3 weeks," said Koeman.
McCarthy missed Ireland's opening 2018 World Cup qualifier in Serbia due to a groin injury.
