Just like a good western, the SSE Airtricity League will end with a tense duel as Dundalk and Cork City go head-to-head in a title shootout this Friday.
A draw will be enough for Cork City to take the trophy home given their one point lead over Dundalk. But Stephen Kenny's side know a victory at Oriel Park will deliver a league trophy that they had appeared to be running away with at times this season.
Roddy Collins and Stuart Byrne joined us on Off The Ball tonight to build towards the day of reckoning.
While Roddy sees Dundalk as the best team this season, he fancies Cork City to take the title.
"If Cork go ahead, I don't see any way back for Dundalk," said Roddy, contrasting their styles of play and feeling that Dundalk cannot fight fire with fire in the physical stakes.
Stuey also praised John Caulfield's management of the pressures at Cork as they hunted Dundalk down and took the league lead last weekend. He also noted a few worries about Dundalk but expects them to go "all out attack". And he explained why he thinks Dundalk will win it, although he still sees it as a "conundrum".
The lads also previewed the relegation battle between UCD and Athlone Town.
