Claudio Ranieri will not be watching Spurs take on Chelsea tomorrow night as he has a lunch planned with his 96-year-old mother in Italy.
Leicester have the chance to win the title if Tottenham slip up against Chelsea on Monday night at Stamford Bridge but the 64-year-old will be on a flight back from his home country and admits he will be the "last man to know the result."
Ranieri said, "I want to meet my mother, who is 96 years old, and go for lunch with her. I fly back at the same time as the match. So I won’t know the result. But when we land I will hear.”
Mother's day in Italy is celebrated on the second Sunday of May but his side play Everton next Saturday evening with a win ensuring a parade and plenty of celebrations on the Sunday.
The Italian has created one of the most compelling underdog stories in the history of sport as his Leicester City side have gone from 5,000 to one outsiders to odds-on favourites to win the Premier League in the space of a few short months. He has kept daring his players to dream but remains confident and calm that his side can handle whatever is thrown at them regardless of the result on Monday night.
Ranieri has been missing Jamie Vardy for the last two games and will likely be without Danny Drinkwater for his sending off yesterday at Old Trafford and could do with a Tottenham slip on Monday night to allay fears of a very late season collapse.
He was happy with his side's performance yesterday, saying "I am so happy because we drew against a fantastic Manchester United. They play so well. At the beginning it was amazing.
“We suffered a lot because they pressed so high and without Vardy it was difficult to stretch the line. Psychologically it was very important to come back and, after that, we were a little more calm, moving the ball quickly and doing what we spoke about in the week.”
