Rangers manager Mark Warburton says there is no truth in rumours suggesting they are about to sign Robin van Persie.
The former Manchester United and Arsenal striker has been linked with a move to the newly-promoted Scottish Premiership club in a number of media reports.
But Warburton has moved to quell speculation about a potential transfer.
"I have no idea where the rumour has emanated from. I woke up to a barrage of texts and missed calls, with apparently the deal done," he said.
"Everybody knew about it apart from the people at Rangers Football Club. Out of our pay league I think is a fair comment."
Van Persie has been plying his trade in Turkey with Fenerbahce since leaving Manchester United in 2015.
