Manchester City extended their lead at the top, Chelsea lose at home for only the second tmie in the league under Mourinho and Liverpool fell apart at the back. It's this weeks Premier League Round UP:
Chelsea 1-2 Crystal Palace
Mourinho and Chelsea's poor start to the seasopn continued as they slumped to a disappointing defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace. In what was Mourinho's 100 game in charge at Stamford Bridge the Blues suffered only their second defeat at home.
Bakary Sako gave Palace an early lead but a Radamel Falcao goal in the closing minutes looked to save Chelsea's blushes and rescue them a point. Palace had other ideas and nearly direct from the kick off Joel Ward headed the ball into the back of the net to earn Tony Pulis' men a historic victory.
Liverpool 0-3 West Ham
West Ham ended their 52-year wait for success at Anfield with a 3-0 Premier League victory over Liverpool that saw both sides reduced to 10 men.
Liverpool’s improved defending this term has been a welcome boost to Brendan Rodgers, but Liverpool imploded at the back with Dejan Lovren in particular getting a lot of criticism. West Ham capitalised on slack play at the back to register a clinical victory in an action-packed affair that saw Hammers goalscorer Mark Noble and Philippe Coutinho sent off.
Manchester City 2 – 0 Watford
Manchester City set a club record of 10 successive league victories with a 2-0 win over Watford at Eastlands on Saturday.
Raheem Sterling’s first competitive goal for City since his £49 million move from Liverpool set up the win early in the second half, before Fernandinho, who put a man of the match performance, added a second to end newly promoted Watford’s unbeaten league start.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side are three points clear at the top of the table after winning their first four league matches of the season without conceding a goal.
Stoke City 0 – 1 West Brom
Tony Pulis celebrated his return to the Britannia Stadium with a 1-0 victory over nine-man Stoke. It was West Brom’s first win of the season.
The match was decided by a headed goal on the stroke of half-time by new Venezuelan signing Salomon Rondon following a deft cross from former Southampton and Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert.
Stoke boss Mark Hughes was left fuming as Ibrahim Afellay was sent off on 25 minutes for a slap in the face of a West Brom player before Charlie Adam swiftly followed him with a straight red for stamping.
West Brom now have four points from four matches and picked up a rare away win while Stoke have just two draws from their opening quartet of fixtures.
Newcastle United 0-1 Arsenal
Arsenal just edged out a Newwcastle side who were playing with 10 men for the majority of the match as Arsene Wenger's side lacked the clinical finiaher they have been calling out for since Robin Van Persie's departure.
newcastle new boy Aleksander Mitrovic continues to live up to his bad boy reputation as he was given his marching orders after just 15 minutes.
Arsenal's blushes were saved by Oxlad Chamberlains goal early in the second half which lifts them up to 5th in the table.
AFC Bournemouth 1 – 1 Leicester City
Jamie Vardy’s penalty rescued a late point for high flying Leicester City as they maintained their unbeaten start to the Premier League season with a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth.
The visitors were poor, but Vardy’s jinking run drew a poor challenge from Steve Cook and the striker converted from the penalty spot.
Claudio Ranieri’s men had long been staring defeat in the face following a stunning first-half overhead kick from Callum Wilson, who scored a hat-trick in last weekend’s 4-3 win at West Ham.
Aston Villa 2 – 2 Sunderland
Sunderland are still chasing their first Premier League win of the season, but goals for Yann M’Vila and Jeremain Lens earned Dick Advocaat’s men some respite and a hard-fought 2-2 draw at Aston Villa today.
‘Crisis talks’ following two consecutive defeats at the start of the campaign seem to have made an impact at the Stadium of Light as Sunderland followed up a draw against Swansea City with another resolute display, securing a point despite Scott Sinclair netting twice for Villa.
Tottenham Hotspur 0-0 Everton
The late kick off today ended scoreless and Tottenham still haven't registered a win this season. The pressure continues to build on Harry Kane a yet again he didn't score. It was a game of few chances with the best of them falling to England striker Kane but his tame shot was saved by Tim Howard.
