Michel Platini has hit out at the FIFA ethics committee after his eight-year ban from football.
The banned Uefa president has vowed to clear his name after he was punished over a $2 million "disloyal payment" that he received in 2011.
In an interview with French media agency AFP, Platini has accused the ethics committee of deliberately trying to sabotage his bid to succeed Sepp Blatter as FIFA president, demanding to know if the ethics committee had been "sleeping" after they failed to act over the payment between 2011 and 2015.
"What was the Fifa ethics committee doing between 2011 when I was paid and 2015? Was it sleeping?" he said.
