In most football culture's around the world, the No 10 jersey is highly symbolic.
For example in Argentina, the esteemed playmaker of the moment, whether it be Diego Maradona or Lionel Messi is entrusted with wearing it.
At club level, Mesut Ozil was keen on taking the number at Arsenal now that incumbent 10 Jack Wilshere is away on loan at Bournemouth.
In the Irish context, Robbie Keane wore the number for so long but starting tonight at least, Robbie Brady is poised to wear it in Belgrade as the FAI confirmed on their social media channels:
