Does new FIFA boss Gianni Infantino really represent a fresh start?

As FIFA tries to move into a new era in a bid to distance itself from its recent corruption-tainted history, former UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino is the man tasked with heading up the clean up operation.

But what can we expect from FIFA's new president and the person who will follow on from Sepp Blatter?

Tonight on Off The Ball, we were joined by football writer Philippe Auclair to assess the Swiss official, who had been previously better known as the master of ceremonies at UEFA competition draws.

"[He's] somebody with great personal charm, who is fluent in a number of languages as he showed in his address to the FIFA Congress before the vote, somebody who has got very deep knowledge of the main dossier particularly in regard to European football and club football; somebody who is his own man - certainly not a stooge for Michel Platini as I've heard it said," said Philippe, adding that Infantino also "represents a kind of continuity within FIFA".

He was "surprised" by the extent of the 45-year-old's victory, and also discussed the vast challenge that he faces, especially when it comes to confronting global issues rather than the European ones he has been accustomed to, and how much of the problems at FIFA emanate from Confederation level.
