Ex-Ireland, Chelsea and West Brom right-back Paddy Mulligan believes Alberto Moreno showcased the exact opposite of what a full-back should do for Liverpool on Sunday.
The Spaniard saw his side beat Arsenal 4-3 at the Emirates but was culpable for the concession of a penalty and Theo Walcott's opener.
Given the same player was also at fault as Liverpool lost the Europa League final to his former club Sevilla among other errors, Paddy cannot see any redeeming features to his defensive play.
"Moreno is an absolute walking disaster. He has no football intelligence - good, bad or indifferent - I would not let him pay in to Anfield to watch a match, never mind actually play and get paid to put in performances like that. He's got absolutely no control over his emotions. He doesn't know when to tackle, doesn't know when to play a nice, gentle ball in to front man, he doesn't know when to get on the cover. He just can't defend and why he's in the team, it's beyond me," he said on the Rewind podcast.
"It's frightening that a left-back doesn't learn. He's making the very same schoolboy errors - in fact it's an insult to a schoolboy - a schoolboy wouldn't make those errors."
