If you were asked to name Ireland's greatest goalkeeper, two names would be vying for that title.
One of those was at the Aviva Stadium last night in the first match of his comeback, while his fellow Donegalman was at Kilkenny's Rivercourt Hotel for Off The Ball's Roadshow tonight.
The latter of course is Packie Bonner and he gave his take on Given's decision to return to the international fold.
"I haven't spoken to Shay for quite a while. I think he's been working with Roy and trying to settle old differences there," he said, before touching on the dynamic between Given and the most recent Ireland No 1 David Forde.

"Knowing Shay he'll want to play if he's here. He's not coming in as a coach, he's coming in as a player and he will want to play every single game. He's fit, he still looks 25. I think if he comes in, I would expect him to play. David Forde won't be too happy I don't think and that's the other big task of a goalkeeping coach. How do they work with the other goalkeeper who's not in the team? How do you keep him happy?"
Bonner also gave his opinion of another point of contention, namely whether West Ham's Mark Noble should be called up. There have been divergent views on the subject but Bonner believes that any person who is eligible for Ireland deserves a chance as long as they are "committed", citing his own son and former Ireland team-mates as positive examples of people who have been totally dedicated to representing Ireland.
The former Celtic keeper also spoke about Donegal GAA manager Jim McGuinness and his involvement with the Hoops and why the region has such a talent pool.
