Over 1,000 people are attending a major pro-choice rally in Dublin this afternoon - calling for an end to the Constitutional ban on abortion.
The protest comes just hours after the HSE published the terms of reference for its review of the care of Ms Y - the suicidal migrant who says she was raped and refused a termination - with the baby later delivered by c-section.
A four person panel will examine all of the facts surrounding her care - and report back as soon as possible.
Addressing the crowd, Sinead Redmond of the Pro-Choice AIMS group said it is time to scrap the Eighth Amendment:
“All these cases that we’ve seen time and time again. These do not happen in our name. The majority of people in the Irish country do not want this to go on.
“We believe in choice over women’s bodies. We believe that these are our bodies and those are our rights. March with me to appeal the eighth amendment,” Redmond said.
Meanwhile, hundreds of people are expected to attend a pro-life vigil at the Spire on O'Connell Street in Dublin. The Pro Life Campaign says the event is in solidarity with the baby of Ms Y.
