Frank Lampard admitted that while Chelsea should be hesitant to accept top-four finishes, he was extremely pleased with his team's progress this year.
Chelsea beat Wolves 2-0 to finish in the top four behind Manchester United and secured their place in the Champions League next season.
"I suppose at Chelsea we have to be careful getting too excited with top-four finishes but coming into the job I don't think many people put us in that bracket," he told Sky Sports.
"We know where we are at, it's progress can we get better? Now we've secured top four can we look at how we can improve and try and close that gap?"
"What we've done this year, we've brought in some of the younger players and given them an opportunity to play, trying to work with and help and improve players that are already here or already good players playing for Chelsea," Lampard continued.
It is a positive end to the season for Lampard, and Chelsea, who will see Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech join the club in the summer. Kai Havertz has also been rumoured to be on his way to Stamford Bridge.

If all three do end up at the club together, it will reinforce a bright group of young players that have shone for Chelsea this year.
Mason Mount, who grabbed a goal and an assist in the victory over Wolves this afternoon, has been a bright spark all season.
Prior to the game, Lampard decided to drop goalkeeper Kepa Arizzabalaga, in favour of Willy Caballero. The Spaniard has struggled in recent weeks and Lampard did not hesitate to play his second choice keeper.
The London club will now look towards finishing the season on a positive note. They face an uphill battle to qualify for the quarter-final of this year's Champions League, in Lisbon.
They are 3-0 down to German champions, Bayern Munich, and have to travel to the Allianz stadium, in August.
