Norwich's Mbokani refuses to play for DR Congo again over unfair treatment following Brussels attacks

Norwich striker Dieumerci Mbokani says he doesn't want to play for the Democratic Republic of Congo again after what he describes as unfair treatment.

The striker says he was not given any support when he missed recent matches for his country after being caught up in the Brussels terror attacks.

Indeed, the national team threatened to sanction him for missing two African Cup of Nations qualifiers as a result of being unable to travel for the games.

Mbokani was unharmed but at the city's airport when it was targeted by two bombs.

He told Sky Sports News, he's had enough of international football for now.

"There wasn't an agreement with me and Congo like there was with me and Norwich. Norwich knew where I was coming from and with Congo it was a misunderstanding," he said.

"I was caught up in current events which led to this current situation and I think it might be the best time to stop playing international football, that's my stance on it. In normal circumstances of course I want to play for them but in exceptional circumstances I was disappointed they couldn't see where I was coming from."
