Newcastle kept their slim survival hopes alive following a second half comeback against Liverpool at Anfield.
Trailing by two goals at the break, Rafael Benitez inspired his troops at half-time to overcome the deficit and earn a crucial point in their relegation battle.
A point wasn't enough to take the the Toon out of the drop zone but it does leave them one point behind 17th placed Norwich City, who have to games in hand, and level on points with North-East rivals Sudnerland, who also have a game in hand.
After a first half in which Liverpool looked comfortable thanks to Daniel Sturridge's well taken goal inside two minutes, and Adam Lallana's wonderful curling effort, Jurgen Klopp will be scratching his head as to how they let the win slip out of their grasp.
An obvious answer would be to look at Simon Mignolet, as another aerial blunder allowed Papiss Cisse head into an empty net at the beginning of the second half, giving Newcastle an opening.
At fault for the first, there was little the Belgian goalkeeper could do about the second as Jack Colback's half-volley took a wicked deflection into the net to level the game.
Both sides had chances to win it, in particular Cisse following a swift Newcastle counter attack, but neither could find an all important winner that would have progressed both sides hopes for next season, with Liverpool still sitting outside the Europa League places and Premier League survival firmly on the mind of Newcastle fans.
