Gonzalo Higuain has attracted attention from Juventus and Atletico Madrid in recent windows but a Napoli radio presenter has said the Argetine will "almost certainly" be moving to Arsenal for €50 and Olivier Giroud.
The 28-year-old came close to firing Napoli to a Serie A title before the might of Juventus overpowered them but his 36 goals in 35 league games drew attention from all over Europe.
Arsenal are in the market for a striker based on the reports linking them with Jamie Vardy and with Danny Welbeck out injured for the foreseeable future and Olivier Giroud failing to convince consistently, Wenger could be preparing to part with a princely sum and his starting number nine before the end of the current transfer window.
Higuain's agent confirmed his client would not sign a new contract with the Italian side, which put many of Europe's top club on alert.
“Gonzalo will not renew but he will respect the contract because he is a professional,” the agent said. “There are at least four or five teams that can afford Higuaín both in Spain and England and there is also PSG and Bayern Munich.”
