Republic of Ireland's Kevin Doyle has issued a Tweet to reassure fans and Irish followers that he has not sustained any significant damage from an injury he suffer in a Euro warm-up game last night.

The 32-year-old posted a disturbing image of his leg injury which required him to be stretchered off during Ireland's 1-0 home win over Switzerland last night. Later on, Doyle posted a disturbing image of a nasty gash on his foot which exposed bone and left us all fearing the worst about his Euro 2016 prospects.

But the Colorado Rapids striker has since allayed all worries with an update on Twitter which said that he is looking to make a swift recovery after undergoing plastic surgery.

The gruesome injury cruelly coincided with Doyle's long anticipated International return, having not started for Ireland since a 2-0 victory against Oman in 2014. And although he will make a gradaul return to training in a few weeks, he will miss out on another chance to contest for a jersey next Tuesday when Ireland face Slovakia in the Aviva Stadium.

Doyle has 62 caps to his credit and has scored 14 goals for Ireland throughout his career.
