'I don't think Mourinho feels he is respected'

Listen to the full interview above via the podcast

Due to their style of play, Pat Nevin believes Liverpool were always set up for a fall when they faced a Chelsea side that were always going to play in a certain way.

The Reds title hopes took a hit yesterday after the 2 - 0 defeat at Anfield at the hands of Jose Mourinho's ultra-conservative unit.

Former Chelsea midfielder Pat joined us on the line tonight and he told us what might lie behind Mourinho's recent crankiness.

"I don't think he feels as if he's respected. He has a warm feeling about English football and loves the passion of English football. He thought he'd come back [from managing abroad] and be lauded as a guy who almost wins everything and almost from the moment he's come back, there is certainly an antipathy towards Chelsea," said Pat, citing the reactions to the Aston Villa and Sunderland games as key marker points.

Pat believes positive football has been successful in Europe most of the time, even if Mourinho may not totally agree with that.

But Pat and Joe did discuss some interesting stats about tactical approaches and their success.
