Mesut Ozil wants the Arsenal No 10 jersey according to comments in a German newspaper.
The Arsenal star, who is involved in contract talks at the Emirates, would like the number often associated with playmakers.
The No 10 jersey currently belongs to Jack Wilshere but the English midfielder is out on loan at Bournemouth for the season.
And now that the opportunity has arisen, Ozil wants to swap away from the No 11.
"It has become free and I will definitely have it," he is quoted as saying by German newspaper Express in a Q&A, before stating that he was in the same boat at international level with Germany.
"I did a few years ago have this number, but Lukas Podolski wanted it. He had more matches than I did. Now I have access."
Ozil's Arsenal contract runs out in 2018.
